Internet Access

Thorold Public Library provides eight public access computers for borrowers to use and access the Internet. These computers run Windows 7. In addition to Internet access, various other tools are available to use such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Works, scanning and printing, OverDrive download station for audio and E-books and direct access to electronic resources.

Reserving a Computer

Borrowers can use the computers without checking in at the Information Desk. Walk up to any unoccupied computer, type in your valid Thorold Public Library card number and accept the Internet Use Policy. A base time of 60 minutes per session is given. However, if no one is waiting to use the computer, the system will grant you extra time in blocks of ten minutes. When you have used the amount of time given, the system will automatically log you out. This provides a smooth experience for both patrons and staff.

Internet Access Policy

Thorold Public Library provides Internet access as a tool for the retrieval of information. A valid Thorold Public Library card must be presented in order to use any of the public access computers. The system will record the borrower’s library card number, start time, end time and what computers they use. A Guest Pass is available for those who are visiting the City of Thorold and identification must be shown.
